CoeHome.Com is a site devoted to a few different purposes. First, of course, is that I wanted to play with XHTML v1.0 (the language that this site is written in). I needed to brush up on my Web-design skills, and the best way to do that (honestly) is to mess up your own site. As you can see, the project did end well after many hours of enthusiasticly imprinting my forehead into the surface of my desk. Doing it in ViM definately added a level to the challenge!
I had actually been thinking about doing a remodel of the digital house for a while. I have found that there are not many resources easily available on the internet for well intentioned, but inexperienced, Linux users who do not have at least a minimal amount of IT and/or research experience. There are also not many sites directed, specifically, at straightforward talk about switching to Linux and its (dis?)advantages. This trend has been starting to change recently, but still has some holes. This site will attempt to address those issues.
This site is laid out in simple layers. The main topics are lined in the sidebar to the left. On many pages, there will be sub-topics listed across the top of the page (as you see above in the current page). Tips for the site, such as where to look to more information or for new sections of the site, are listed in lined text like this with blue headings.
Commands to be typed, or other data to be entered into a program or file, are boxed and shown in code fontAs you can see, the site is pretty easy to follow. The scope of this site should range from beginner to expert, but it is broken up to be easy to follow.
The short story is that this website is here to accomplish four simple goals:
- To leave an easy point of reference information for various people I assist with their computers.
- To provide links to applications and scripts which I discuss in various (and often random) talks.
- To supply a single, easy, launching point for the general public's Linux research.
- To provide an easy point of contact for people trying to reach me.
I am certain you will find that this site provides at least some degree of success in all four points, although I would not presume to guess exactly what that degree will be...
